Our Story

Rooted in Experience. Built for Healing.

Trauma Interrupted™ began with one person’s story—my story.

Like many of the people we serve, I’ve known trauma not as a concept, but as a lived experience. I’ve faced abuse, loss, and systemic barriers that threatened to break me. But instead of giving up, I became what I needed most: a safe space. A listener. A truth-teller. A healer. I became a psychotherapist not just to understand trauma—but to interrupt its grip, especially in communities where it has too long gone unspoken.

Throughout my work in the mental health field, I’ve met countless people—especially Black and Brown individuals—who were carrying generations of pain. So many had normalized their trauma, didn’t have the language to define it, or had never been asked how it was shaping their lives. They weren’t broken. They were surviving. And they deserved more.

That’s why Trauma Interrupted™ was born.

This organization is more than a nonprofit. It’s a movement. A call to compassion. A safe space for people to learn, heal, and be seen in their full humanity. Our approach is grounded in lived experience, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to equity, education, and empowerment.

We bring trauma-informed care into schools, workplaces, and communities with one goal: to break the cycle of trauma by making healing accessible, practical, and culturally relevant. Our work is guided by the belief that trauma should never be a life sentence—and that with the right support, survivors can reclaim their lives, write new stories, and thrive.

From navigating personal pain to becoming a mental health professional, the road hasn’t been easy. But every challenge—every closed door—only made this mission clearer:

We’re here to interrupt trauma wherever it lives and replace it with something greater—hope, healing, and wholeness.

We’re just getting started. And we invite you to be part of this story.
